Leading cancer charity, Cancer Research UK, has thanked Slee Blackwell and our clients for an “amazing contribution” to battling cancer through their Free Will initiative.

Under the scheme the Charity will either pay for your Will to be prepared or make a maximum contribution towards the cost. There is no obligation to leave a gift to Cancer Research UK, but the Charity’s expectation is that people do so in order to hasten the end of cancer.

People making donations or leaving gifts can specify how they would like the money to be spent, perhaps towards research into a specific cancer type or used in their local area.

We have prepared 88 wills under the scheme with an average pledge of £11,147 being made. This is a testament to the generosity of North Devonians as it is significantly higher than the national average of £7,000.

A total of £735,722 has been promised to the Charity by our clients, with 80 pence in the pound being invested into cancer research.

More than a third of research carried out by Cancer Research UK is funded by gifts people leave in their Wills. This enables the Charity to commit to long-term research which it is hoped will lead to new tests, treatments and cures.
